It's been a long time......

And I am so pleased to say we have had a lot of progress in that time.

So, long story short, builder went under in 2011 but we had managed to terminate our contract just before and sourced a new builder.  New builder is fantastic, much smaller scale and things actually get done!  Site work started in November 2011, slab went down early December, frames up mid January and so on.

More progress!

Amazed that we have had more progress on site with workers down there yesterday and today (Wed 20th & Thurs 21st April). Driveway partly profiled and temporary road base laid so that the trucks can get down there. Some more excavation carried out (check out all that sandstone) and 3 truck loads of fill brought in.

Falling in love again

...with our site!  Democorp have done an amazing job.  All asbestos contamination cleared and sorted, and new retaining walls and levels created in the garden.  Just love it!

Look how beautiful the bottom is looking at the moment....

Game on

Hooray for a few dry days.  The latest is that we found some small pieces of asbestos buried in the soil, so we have had to have a full site decontamination carried out.  Yep, need that like a hole in the head.  We have been waiting for some nice dry days to do this as the soil removal is charged by the ton, so we didn't want to have to pay double for extra heavy wet soil.  Work started today and fingers crossed it stays dry until tomorrow when it finishes.  On the upside, we have been able to get some of the garden levelled off as a result (which we didn't think we could afford to do at the moment).  Obviously it is much easier to do this before the house is built, so we are grateful for this little silver lining!
